Beling Tetens, London, Edinburg & Toronto, 1902, 2 volumes, title page in color, designated "Ambassadors' Edition" with numbered sets printed in a quantity of 750, 8vo, pliable black leather, gilt decoration and lettering on spine, top edge gilt, side and bottom edges untrimmed, 396 pp & 450 pp.

Volume I covers the pictorial arts and applied arts. It contains a tissue guard protected color halftone frontispiece and 5 black and white halftone tissue guard protected plates. Volume I also contains 66 pages (not included in the page count of 396 pp) of 1) listings of the names, periods and schools of Japanese pictorial artist, 2) names and eras of Japanese artist artisans other than ceramists and sculptors of sword furniture and 3) an alphabetical list of chisellers of sword furniture. The major topics covered are pictorial art, applied art, bronze casting, architectural sculpture and decoration, various applications of art and sculupture on sword furniture. Volume II covers ceramic arts. It contains a tissue guard protected halftone frontispiece and 5 black and white halftone tissue guard protected plates. The major topics are early wares, wares of Hizen, wares of Satsuma (Kagoshima Prefecture), wares of Kyoto, wares of Kaga (Ishikawa Prefecture), wares of Owari or Bishiu, and Mino, miscellaneous Wares, and modern developments of Japanese ceramics. Volume II also contains 16 pages of Japanese porcelain and faience marks and seals and 14 pages of plates illustrating the marks and seals. These 30 pages are not included in the page count of 450.
