Thirty Masterpieces of Modern Japanese Pictorial Art (Tokugawa Period), Tokyo, The Shimbi Shoin, September, 1925, folio (19 1/2 x 13 1/4 in - 49 x 33.8 cm), brown silk covers with beveled edges, tied with purple string, front cover with paste on Japanese title, decorative silk covering on spine, top and bottom edges in gilt, plain front and end papers, 30 plates (ten color woodblock plates and twenty black and white collotype plates). High quality thick paper stock pages (only one side used) on all plates. The color woodblock plates are tipped to a recessed area on the page. The collotype plates are printed directly on the page. Each plate is protected by a descriptive tissue guard providing information regarding that plate (title, artist, size, medium, ownership). Image areas vary. The color plates have generally have an image area of 15 inches high by 6+ inches wide. The black and white collotype plates generally have a similar, or larger, size image area.
This appears to be the last large format art reproduction book published by the Shimbi Shoin.
Issued with a folding case with the same paste on Japanese title label as on the book.
