The Great Earthquake of Japan, 1891
by John Milne and W.K. Burton
with 29 Plates by K. Ogawa
1st Edition (ca 1892)

Condition. The book is in Very Good condition. It is absolutely complete. The head and foot of the spine are soft and the covers have rubbed, scraped and discolored areas. Along the cover edges there are small nicks and bumps and the corners are lightly frayed. There is very scattered light foxing on the plate fronts but not in the image area of the plates. Some plates have moderate foxing on the back. The binding is solid and tight. However, the front and back hinges are cracked. The image areas of the plates are bright, clean and free of foxing/staining. Approximately 5 of the plates are creased vertically in the left margin, a common condition in this book. Approximately 6 plates show small areas of water staining but only in the margins. These waterstain areas carry over into the adjoining text pages. The largest of these water stains measures 4.5 x 1.5 cm.
