Condition. The photograph is in Good condition. It is faded and has significant foxing. The mount has foxing and staining.

 
This is a sepia tone (not tinted or colored) albumen photograph of the M.C. Perry monument which dedicated at Kurihama (near Yokohama), Japan on July 14, 1901. The photograph is mounted on thick card stock. The image area measures 3 5/8 x 5 3/4 in (9.4 x 14 cm). The mount measures 6 1/4 x 8 1/4 in (15.8 x 20.7 cm). The photograph is not dated. However, the same photograph was printed on a commemorative paper lantern which was distributed at the monument dedication ceremony on July 14, 1901 (see here). The photographer or photographic studio is not identified on the print or on the mount. Below the photograph is written: "Commodore Perry's Monument / Miss Hines." There are no markings or writing on the back.
