
Condition. The book is in Very Good condition. There is discoloration at the bottom of the front and back covers and spine. The corners are lightly bumped and the bottom edges are scraped. There is a 2 cm crack at the bottom of the front inner hinge. The binding is solid. There is a waterstain area along the spine and extending down. The area starts 5 cm up from the bottom at the maximum width is 1 cm. This stain is found in the middle third of the book. It does not extend into the text area. The book is otherwise very clean.

The other volumes in the series are listed in the 4 pages of ads at the end of the book. The focus of the book is the foreign commerce between Japan and the United States. It deals extensively with the Perry Expedition and it's influence on US/Japan commerce. The book contains a section on Americans in Japan to include the "Dark Side of Foreign Influences" as well as a section on Japanese in America which includes the "Japanese in California."
