Variations in Lithographs

 


Overall View, Type I
Two different image types can be distinguished by several minor differences.

 

Type I

Type I. The sails ship to the left has only one flag - on the rear mast. Small boat at the rear of the sails ship. There is a small black dot outside the image area above and to the right of the "From nature..." title (not shown in above pic).
This print has been confirmed in a Tucker and a Nicholson printing of the book.
 
Type II

Type II. The sails ship to the left has flags on three masts. Small boat at the side of the sails ship and small boat faintly visible at rear of sails ship. No black dot as in type I.
This print has been confirmed in a Tucker as well as Nicholson printing of the book.
